Commercial Excavation FAQ
Sessions Enterprises LLC’s commercial excavation team go above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable with each part of our landscaping excavation process. From start to finish, it is our goal to meet and exceed your expectations, keep your project on time and on budget, and adhere to all building and safety regulations. The following is a list of frequently asked questions we’ve put together to answer some of the most common questions we are asked.
Q: What if it Rains During the Excavation?
The weather is unpredictable but that doesn’t mean it is going to put your project behind schedule. We employ an exceptional site management team who are able to make the call to stop and start work as soon as conditions are safe to do so. Operating heavy machinery in the rain can lead to cave-ins and the accidental slipping of weighted trucks. To protect your investment and your property, we stop work only when necessary and resume immediately when conditions change.
Q: Will my Excavation Site Be Covered if it’s Going to Rain?
Preventing rainwater from entering an excavation site is important to preventing flooding and cave-ins. Even when weather strikes unexpectedly, we are prepared with boards and tarps to cover all external excavation sites.
Q: How Will my Excavation Site Be Protected From Cave-Ins?
Protecting your commercial excavation site from cave-ins is a top priority for us. We plan for cave in prevention during the engineering stage and take factors like; soil type, location, obstacles and expected weather conditions into consideration at this time. If cave-ins are a possibility, we will go the extra mile using wooden boards to secure the site by bracing them against the walls.
Q: What if the Crew Hits a Water or a Gas Line?
Pre-planning makes hitting water and gas lines an extremely rare occurrence in our line of work. Accidents do happen, and are usually a result of lines being improperly marked or missing from local utility maps. If a water line is hit, we will have the water turned off right away and take responsibility for the repair.
If a gas line is disturbed, we will call the gas company immediately and have the gas turned off. In this case, it is the gas company who will assume responsibility for repairing the line.
Q: What if Problems With my Foundation are Encountered?
Typically, our engineers are able to anticipate problems before they are uncovered but in the case of your foundation, that is not always true. If the foundation of your structure is found to have been compromised in any way, we will get in touch with the property owner to discuss a resolution immediately.
Q: Should I Notify the Neighbors?
Some neighborhoods have stipulations in place that make notifying your neighbors of any planned construction mandatory. Even if this is not this case for you, it never hurts to give your neighbors a courtesy call to let them know what to expect.
Q: What Precautions are Taken for safety?
We mark the perimeter of all of the digs we complete very clearly so it is easy to see day and night. We also strictly adhere to local building codes and safety regulations and undergo continuous training to make sure we are always in compliance.
